Let Us Now Dissect People's Motivations... or not.

I was writing something about how people who lack the ability to analyse the motivations behind their actions often end up sabotaging themselves, but I was boring *myself*, so I decided to spare you all the tedium.

Busy weekend - we're going to Tracy's memorial service in Charlottesville tomorrow (I still haven't finalized what I want to say), then Saturday we'll be attending the Caer Glynniog event, since we'll be moving down there eventually.

I'm procrastinating at work - where's the "concise accurate report" button on this thing? - and just really sort of mumbling in text, so today is not going to be one of those "nose-snortingly good diary" kind of days.

Yeah, I'd probably best just stop now, before the rampant boredom comes reaching out through the screen and strangles everyone. I'll leave you with a quote by the economist Laurence Iannacone about churches (from his 1994 essay "Why Strict Churches Are Strong"), which made me immediately think of the SCA:

"What does the pious person get in return for all of his or her time and effort? A church full of passionate members; a community of people deeply involved in one another's lives and more willing than most to come to one another's aid; a peer group of knowledgeable souls who speak the same language (or languages), are moved by the same texts, and cherish the same dreams."

No, we're not a cult; not us.

And just because you *know* it's true:
INTJ -The Mastermind
You scored 9% I to E, 10% N to S, 52% F to T, and 26% J to P!
You are more introverted than extroverted. You are more intuitive than observant, you are more thinking based than feeling based, and you prefer to have a plan rather than leaving things to chance. Your type is best described by the word "mastermind", which belongs to the larger group called rationals. Only 1% of the population shares your type. You are very strong willed and self-confident. You can hardly rest until you have things settled. You will only adopt ideas and rules if they make sense. You are a great brainstormer and often come up with creative solutions to difficult problems. You are open to new concepts, and often actively seek them out.
As a romantic partner, you can be both fascinating yet demanding. You are not apt to express your emotions, leaving your partner wondering where they are with you. You strongly dislike repeating yourself or listening to the disorganized process of sorting through emotional conflicts. You see your own commitments as self-evident and don't see why you need to repeat something already expressed. You have the most difficulty in admitting your vulnerabilities. You feel the most appreciated when your partner admires the quality of your innovations and when they listen respectfully to your ideas and advice. You need plenty of quiet to explore your interests to the depth that gives you satisfaction.
